What to do about my dog's cyst/abcess that keeps coming back?

Don't know if it's a cyst/abcess mainly because I don't know the difference between the two, but it is huge. My husband lances it and drains it, and then a few days later it is back and he has to do it again. What comes out of it is liquid/blood, not puss. They are not life threatening. What can I do? Is it okay just to continue doing this or should we just leave it alone? I want to take the dog to the vet of course, but my husband who makes all the money lol thinks home treatment is best in this case so looking for AT HOME only treatments. Thank you. btw, my dog is 1 year old
